The Cleaners is centered around the invisible stories of the cleaners living and working in Finland and the movements inspired by their work. It investigates society’s power structures from the point of view of the immigrants who work as cleaners in Finland.
The performance discusses the experiences and the societal positions of immigrants in Finland through documentary theatre and fictional storytelling. The piece searches for possibilities to normalize the lived experiences of culturally marginalized people in Finland. The Cleaners is based on interviews; stories of people who are working and living among us.
The Cleaners is the final part of Invisible Finland, a trilogy that explores who is allowed to be on the stage in Finland and whose stories are told in Finnish theatres and seeks to foster the role of immigrants in Finnish culture and the art scene.

Siivoojat keskittyy Suomessa elävien ja työskentelevien siivoojien näkymättömiin tarinoihin ja heidän työnsä inspiroimiin liikkeisiin. Se tutkii yhteiskunnan valtarakenteita Suomessa siivoojina työskentelevien maahanmuuttajien näkökulmasta.
Teos käsittelee maahanmuuttajien kokemuksia ja yhteiskunnallista asemaa Suomessa dokumentaarisen teatterin ja fiktiivisen tarinankerronnan keinoin. Teos tutkii mahdollisuuksia normalisoida Suomessa kulttuurisesti marginalisoitujen ihmisten kokemuksia. The Cleaners – Siivoojat perustuu keskuudessamme työskentelevien ja elävien ihmisten tarinoille.
Siivoojat on viimeinen osa trilogiaamme Invisible Finland, joka tutkii keillä on pääsy lavalle Suomessa ja keiden tarinoita Suomen teattereissa kerrotaan sekä pyrkii edistämään maahanmuuttajien roolia Suomen kulttuuri- ja taidekentällä.
